Muriwai Relocation – Motutara Road, Muriwai

OVERVIEW:

In September, we had the privilege of relocating our 2nd ever house on Motutara Road,  Muriwai. Relocating a home is a rare and special experience, one that goes beyond simply moving a building from one place to another. It’s about preserving the memories and history embedded within its walls while giving it the opportunity to start a new chapter in a fresh location. Every home tells a story, and this one was no exception. 

The emotional journey of relocating this home involved not just the physical move, but also honoring the significance the home holds for those who have lived in it. In this case, we were fortunate enough to hear the personal stories of the previous owners, who shared their memories of the many years spent within these walls and the milestones that shaped their lives. It was a truly rewarding experience to connect with them and learn about the generations that had filled this house with life, laughter, and love. 

The process of moving the home itself was a carefully planned operation, requiring precision, skill, and careful coordination. First, our experienced team at EasyMoves Ltd began the process by lifting the house off its existing foundation using a series of hydraulic jacks and beams. This delicate task was done with the utmost care, ensuring the structure was safely elevated without causing any damage.

Once lifted, heavy-duty steel beams were placed underneath the house to support its weight during transport. The next step involved positioning powerful dollies beneath the steel beams. These dollies allowed the house to be slowly and steadily moved across the site. The route was meticulously cleared of obstacles, and every step was taken to ensure the house remained stable and secure as it was carefully maneuvered into place.

With the help of a truck, the house was then gently towed to its new location. The entire move required careful navigation, with the skilled team ensuring every turn and movement was executed with precision. 

Relocating this home wasn’t just about moving a structure; it was about preserving its history and giving it a new life in a new setting. The emotional impact of this process was felt by everyone involved in the vibrant muriwai community, as the house began its next chapter, carrying with it the memories and significance of the past.

We are incredibly grateful and honoured to have played a part in capturing such a significant moment,  ensuring that legacy continues, as this home begins its new adventure.
