TROW Group X AWATAHA Marae – Classroom Relocation
Earlier this year, we had the privilege of embarking on a collaborative journey with Awataha Marae, a community hub dedicated to empowering Māori and Pasifika youth. This partnership came just before the start of our Northcote Shopping Centre project, and we were excited to support something that aligns with our core values—Educating our Youth.
Awataha Marae launched its Mana to Mahi youth employment program, designed to equip Māori and Pasifika youth with trade skills, fostering a deep sense of identity, cultural pride, and job readiness. This comprehensive program offers not only technical training but also a space for personal growth, helping participants explore their roots and prepare for meaningful employment opportunities. Located at Awataha Marae, the program serves as a foundation for cultural connection and provides young people with the tools needed to thrive in the workforce.
As part of this incredible kaupapa, we were honored to assist by relocating a classroom that we salvaged from our Browns Bay Primary project in 2023. This classroom, now a new home for the youth program, creates a dedicated space where young learners can continue to develop their skills in a supportive environment. This classroom move represents much more than just a physical relocation—it’s about creating a sustainable future while honoring the past.
We’re proud to be part of a project that builds the future of our youth, restores a valuable resource, and supports the growth of a vibrant cultural community.
