Leighton Varea
Recyling Administration
Since starting at TROW, one of the most valuable lessons Leighton has learned is adaptability. In an industry where no two days are ever the same, she’s embraced the challenges of staying organised while adjusting quickly to new tasks and priorities. It’s a skill that has proven essential and deeply rewarding in her role.
Before joining TROW, Leighton immersed herself in the construction industry while studying toward a Bachelor of Engineering at AUT. During her studies, she gained hands-on experience with companies such as Cassidy Construction and Hawkins, which gave her valuable early insights into the industry and built a strong foundation for her career.
Born and raised in West Auckland, Leighton is proud of her Samoan and Fijian heritage, with family roots in the villages of Lefaga, Faleaseela, and Vailoa Faleata. Growing up, family has always been central to who she is, and one of her favourite childhood memories is the long beach trips with everyone squeezed into one big van – and of course, all the snacks being eaten before they even arrived!
Looking ahead, Leighton is focused on improving the way salvaged materials are recycled and reused across TROW projects. Her goal is to ensure these resources are given a meaningful second life—whether through internal reuse or by connecting them with new homes—reducing waste and maximising their value.
A quote that inspires her and guides her journey is from Psalms 23:4:
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
We’re so proud to have Leighton on our team. Her adaptability, determination, and passion for sustainability are just a few of the many reasons why she’s such an asset to TROW Group, and we can’t wait to see all she continues to achieve.
