Ben Tautua'a

General Manager - Tonga Divison

Ben is the General Manager of the TROW division in Tonga. His loyalty towards TROW’s mission  stretches several years back when its Deconstruction sector emerged. He is the driving force behind the inception of TROW’s vision to build stable, affordable and sustainable infrastructure throughout Tonga using quality deconstructed materials from New Zealand.  Although, gaining traction was challenging in the beginning, due to it being never done by anyone before, he preservered and overcame every obstacle with the gudance of Saia and Juile.

As part of the TROW ciricular economy he has helped rebuild cyclone prone schools, churches and public facilities throughout the nation. Additionally, he is leading the development of the Pacific’s first sustainable Business Hub. They have already finished an upcycled cafe and three storage units. Ben states that they are setting a standard in Tonga, as all procedures and regulations are transferred from TROW NZ, and they are the largest construction and salvaged furniture provider in the nation.

TROW Tonga has gained much more recognition recently with its significant growth, and they endeavour to establish a model for replication in neighbouring Pacific nations.  Most importantly are the social and enviromental outcomes for the locals, enabling more  employment and the reduced need for virgin resources. As the Tongan proverb wisely states ‘koe tapuaki ‘oe ngaue lelei, koe toe lahi ange ‘ae ngaue lelei ‘ The blessing of good work  is the abundance and ability to acoomplish more great work.
