SHIKARA VENTURA

SHIKARA VENTURA

Community Architect

Shikara Ventura was born and raised in Titirangi, West Auckland. Her half Sri Lankan, half Kiwi ethnicity has enriched her cultural perspective and ability to successfully traverse Aotearoa’s multicultural society. Having attended St Cuthbert’s, she progressed onto the University of Auckland to complete her MArch (Prof) (Hons) in 2020.

Her thesis delved into how architecture should be portrayed in an increasingly culturally diverse world, built on her desire to represent her ancestors’ stories as they had been passed down through generations. Shikara weaved her own unique identity into her interior cross-cultural architectural designs, as a reflection of the changing culture in NZ, encapsulating time immemorial

Upon completion of her personally confrontational studies, Shikara chose to travel to Sri Lanka to connect directly with the themes that she navigated in her final year. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 she was forced to return to New Zealand, where she briefly worked in a furniture store before beginning work with TROW group. Shikara aspired to become an active representative of a cross-cultural experience for generations to come. At TROW, she found the shared ideals and morals made her transition to our Community Architect a smooth one.

TROW provided the perfect niche for Shikara to optimise her skills towards a worthwhile cause via contributing to significant social and environmental outcomes, leaving a memorable mark in the world. Although Shikara has recently started with TROW, she recognises the genuine warmth of her new team and appreciates their openness to share their culture with her.
